Almanqal Mediterranean Grill Reviews
We ordered a falafel plate and lamb shawarma plate and it was all very tasty, Falafel was with a nice crisp outer layer n moist middle, probably one of the best falafels I have ever had. The lamb was a bit more tough than I expected but still a good flavor. We enjoyed the hummus, cauliflower, eggplant. The owner was kind and attentive and restaurant decor was cute.
My partner and I came in for a weekend lunch since we were craving some Mediterranean food. The interior is a little confusing haha. The vibes are kinda woodsy cabin especially with the antler chandelier, but also had lots of evil eye decorations. Nonetheless, it was cozy and homely. We were greeted by the owner, we ordered and paid at the counter and sat at a table. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap, and we shared a fried cauliflower appetizer that their entrees come with. The fried cauliflower was delicious. It's not really deep fried or anything, but has enough "roastiness" to boost its flavor. Chicken shawarma wrap was juuuuicy. Chicken was flavorful and tender, sauce brought the pita, chicken and veggies together. Fun bonus! They give super fresh super hot pita for the table and the bite of beef kofta I had was also really flavorful and juicy. Overall, glad we stumbled on this place. Has solid food!
Ate in once years ago and remember it's warm and cozy feel. Got takeout last week and the warmth came with the food! Food is always delicious, albeit a bit pricey. But everything tastes super fresh! Baba ghanoush is smooth and smoky (note: only comes with 1 piece of pita, wasn't enough). Fried cauliflower is probably my favorite side! Fattoush is the only mediocre item I wouldn't recommend (soggy, flavorless). Greek fries are big, raw garlic forward, but good. Vegetarian option is falafel, and it's good!! Nothing ground breaking, but reliably delicious and filling every time. Always happy to return
First off, Almanqal isn't a traditional restaurant with table service. You pick a table, grab a menu then order at the front. Only plastic cups for water and you also need to grab cutlery. Now that we've established it's very casual, you are ready to go. Their pita is very good, handmade, fresh and hot. My friend and I ordered the mezze platter and a sandwich each, which was too much food. We both took the sandwich to go. The hummus and baba ghanouj were total winners, as was the fried cauliflower. The beet salad was meh, unseasoned steamed beets, super sad after the other three wonder. Prices are a little high but portions are good.
The food here is delicious!!! Portions are generous. The service is very friendly and kind! The person that served us had a shirt on that said "occasional adult," and when we asked about it he funnily remarked that his wife gave it to him :) Also love the decor inside! Will be back!!
